A SET OF FRAGMENTED VOLUMES AND COURTYARDS

The project for this rustic house in Biniali was developed with the fundamental principle of integrating harmoniously into its surroundings. Although it is a new construction, it seeks to respect the principles of the traditional architecture of the area, using local materials and adopting an approach that emulates the aesthetic of the existing buildings. The main idea is to create a minor intervention, giving the impression that it is a renovation of an existing building on the plot.

Instead of following a logical façade order, the design proposes a set of fragmented volumes that adapt to the needs of the space and the desired views. This arrangement creates a certain visual disorder that reinforces the sense that the house has evolved over time. The courtyards play a crucial role in this proposal, surrounding and crossing the house throughout its height. These courtyards not only fragment the main volume, but also allow the exterior to enter the interior, creating a fluid connection between the architecture and the surrounding nature.

INTEGRATION AND CONTRAST

The contrast of spaces is another key element in the project. Large volumes reference the original design, while smaller spaces, such as the living room and master bedroom, are linked to the courtyards, giving them a more human scale. These spaces enjoy panoramic views to the outside, contributing to an enriching living experience.

Integration with the surroundings is achieved through careful choices of materials, such as stone, reed or the earthen stoneware of the swimming pool. Native vegetation, including olive, palm, orange and lemon trees, is incorporated into the landscape design. The terraces, fire areas and pergolas follow traditional systems, reinforcing the connection of the house with its context.
